During the current 2009-2010 Academic Year, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has introduced degrees adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The structural changes needed for these new degrees that follow the new conception of teaching established by the European framework has led the ULPGC to draw up three parallel academic calendars for those degree courses that have not yet been adapted to the EHEA, the new adapted degree courses, and the university doctorate and master programmes.

The new degree programmes taught in the ULPGC that have been adapted to the European framework are as follows:
- Geography and Land Use
- History
- Physical Activity and Sports Sciences
- Translation and e Interpreting English-German
- Translation and e Interpreting English –French

Together with these adapted degrees, the ULPGC also offers 48 official degrees of varying duration, one ULPGC-specific undergraduate degree (in Safety and Emergencies), 8 Doctorate programmes, 9 official master programmes and 47 ULPGC-specific postgraduate programmes that are taught either through traditional face-to-face methods, blended learning or e-learning.

As far as the ULPGC-specific postgraduate studies are concerned, the university has invested money and structural resources to improve the number of degrees offered in 2009-2010, with a wide variety of ULPGC-specific master and expert programmes aimed at the labour market. The total number of these types of studies on offer has risen by 20% compared to the previous academic year. The areas of Health Sciences and Social Sciences have incorporated the largest number of courses of this kind.
With this wide range of official and ULPGC-specific degree courses, the ULPGC meets the demands of the labour market and the social context in which it is rooted. It also helps to bring together the different islands of the Archipelago, offering some of these courses taught face-to-face on Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
